Shelby Cold Storage: TPO single-ply and silicone restoration in Amarillo
Project 1809 at Shelby Cold Storage in Amarillo restored multiple building sections covering office, production, and refrigerated storage without shutting down a single day of operation. Failed seams and punctures were repaired, then a silicone restoration coating was applied over the aging TPO. Design ruled out fasteners through production decks to protect the vapor barrier and keep debris out of the active plant.

- +Targeted seam and puncture repairs on aging TPO
- +Silicone restoration coating applied over repaired membrane
- +No mechanical fasteners through production decks
- +Work sequenced around continuous plant operations
How we approached it
Shelby needed one roofing answer that could change by section without stopping the plant. Over production and refrigerated envelopes, a mechanically fastened membrane was ruled out because fasteners would penetrate the deck, create thermal bridges, and drop debris into active space.
We repaired failed seams and punctures, then restored the TPO with a silicone coating system so the plant kept running. The coating sealed weathering and added reflectivity while holding the no-penetration rule over production areas.
